Jonas Glüsenkamp (born January 24, 1988 in Osnabrück ) is a German economist and local politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). Since May 6, 2020, he has been the second mayor and thus the deputy mayor of the independent city of Bamberg in Upper Franconia .

Jonas Glüsenkamp was born in Osnabrück in 1988. He completed his Abitur at a grammar school, which is supported by the Diocese of Osnabrück . After completing community service, Glüsenkamp came to Bamberg in 2008 to study economics . In 2015 he completed his studies as an economist M.Sc. from. From 2016 to 2018 Glüsenkamp worked in the district development department of the Coburg district office in the field of municipal finances and then until his election as second mayor for a private environmental company in Eggolsheim in the Forchheim district .

Political career

Early on, Glüsenkamp was involved in church youth work and in various environmental initiatives. At the age of 18 he was elected councilor in his home town of Belm in the Osnabrück district. This was followed by involvement in several initiatives in Bamberg. Including the to-go deposit system "Bambecher", as well as the citizens' initiatives "Hauptsmoorwald" and "Radentscheid". Grünes Bamberg nominated him as candidate for mayor for the 2020 local elections . In the city council election he received the best single vote result of all candidates with 20,803 votes. In the first round of the mayor's election he reached the runoff election with 24.6%, but failed there on March 29, 2020 with 40.7% against the incumbent Andreas Starke ( SPD ). Both results represent the best result ever for a green candidate in Bamberg. On May 6, 2020, the Bamberg city council elected Glüsenkamp with 33 out of 39 valid votes as the second mayor of the city of Bamberg.

Glüsenkamp is married to a native of Bamberg and has two children.
