Jonas Wohlfarth-Bottermann (born February 20, 1990 in Bonn , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German basketball player . The 2.08 m tall player has been under contract with the German Bundesliga club MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg since summer 2019 .

Career

Born in Bonn, he began playing basketball at the age of 15, played in the youth team of BSV Roleber, before moving to the youth department of Telekom Baskets Bonn in the U18 age group .

At the beginning of January 2009, Telekom Baskets loaned it to SOBA Dragons Rhöndorf under a double license . There he was supposed to help replace the injured top scorer Christopher Rojik. This succeeded and due to his good performance on the way to the ProB championship title and the good conditions for his further development, Wohlfarth-Bottermann was loaned to the Dragons for the 2009/2010 season, but was also part of the Bonn Bundesliga squad. In December 2009 he made his debut in the basketball league for the Bonn team. Until 2011 Wohlfarth-Bottermann was in the Rhöndorfer squad and was a regular in his position.

After the Dragons were relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga Pro A in 2011 , Bottermann announced that he would see his future in the Bundesliga, and Telekom Baskets Bonn also announced that they were planning to join the BBL squad for the 2011/2012 season. Bottermann played for Bonn until 2013, but for the 2013/2014 season he decided to change clubs. In the summer of 2013, the native of Bonn switched to the former German champion Alba Berlin . In his first season in the capital, he advanced with Alba to the final series of the German championship, but was defeated by FC Bayern Munich . In 45 games of the runner-up season he achieved an average of 4.9 points and 2.8 rebounds and thus his best statistical values of his Berlin years. He played his last game for Berlin in March 2016, after which he had to take a break for months due to a knee injury. Following the 2015/16 season, he did not receive a new contract from Alba.

In January 2017, he was contracted by Ratiopharm Ulm to continue the rehabilitation process there after his knee injury and to return to gaming. The long break from injury ended on January 28, 2017, and he made his first appearance in a Bundesliga match since March 2016.

In June 2017 he moved within the Bundesliga to the Skyliners Frankfurt and after two years on the Main, at the end of July 2019, to the MHP Giant Ludwigsburg . At the end of June 2020 he was German runner-up with the team, he scored 4.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per match in the Bundesliga.

National team

In 2013 he took part with the German national student team at the Universiade in Kazan and was the best basket shooter and rebounder of the German selection, which reached twelfth place. In August 2013 Wohlfarth-Bottermann played his first international match for Germany.
