Jonathan Boxill (born April 25, 1989 in Bracknell , England ) is a British ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Milton Keynes Lightning in the Elite Ice Hockey League since June 2017 . His cousins Thomas Boxill and Michael Boxill Knutsen also play professional ice hockey in Norway.

Career

Jonathan Boxill began his career as a hockey player with various youth teams in Swindon. For the local Wildcats he made his debut in the English Premier Ice Hockey League when he was only 15 years old . He then moved to the United States , where he first played four years for the team of the Northwood Preparation School in the United States High School League and then was active at New England College in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In 2013 he returned to England and initially played for the Nottingham Panthers in the Elite Ice Hockey League , with which he won the Challenge Cup in 2013. He spent the summer of 2015 in Australia, where he played with Adelaide Adrenaline in the Australian Ice Hockey League . He then returned to the Elite Ice Hockey League and played there for two years for the Belfast Giants . In 2017 he moved to the new league Milton Keynes Lightning .

International

For Great Britain Boxill took part in the U18 World Championships in 2006 in Division II and 2007 in Division I in the junior division.

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2015 and 2016 . He was also on the ice for his colors in the Olympic qualification for the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang .
