Jonathan Lasker

Jonathan Lasker (born 1948 in Jersey City , New Jersey) is an American artist.

Jonathan Lasker studied at the School of Visual Arts , New York , 1975–1977 and moved to the California Institute of the Arts , Valencia, CA in 1977. Since 1981 he has participated in group exhibitions in galleries and museums in the USA and Europe; since 1981 he has had his first solo exhibitions, including a major retrospective in 1997/1998 in the Kunsthalle Bielefeld , in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and in the Kunstverein St. Gallen ; most recently (2003) a large solo exhibition at the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen , Düsseldorf. His abstract works follow the tradition of Minimal Art , but in search of further developed rules and systems for contemporary art, he understands them far more freely in terms of form than his fellow artists.

Jonathan Lasker was elected a full member ( NA ) of the National Academy of Design in New York in 2015 .
