Jonathan Michael Paul Spector (born March 1, 1986 in Arlington Heights , Illinois ) is an American football player of German descent. In his youth he was still a striker. His main position is that of right-back, although he is also often found in defensive and central midfield.

Career
Manchester United
Jonathan Spector was discovered by Jimmy Ryan, a Manchester United scout, at the 2003 Milk Cup , where he played with the United States U-17 team. At this point Spector was still a striker, but had to move on the defensive due to an injury to a teammate. Ryan actually wanted to watch other players, but was so impressed by the defensive performance of the young Spector that he immediately informed ManU about it.
Spector moved to Manchester United in the summer of 2003. Initially active in the youth team, he made his professional debut against Arsenal London in the FA Community Shield a year later . In December 2004 ManU coach Sir Alex Ferguson announced that Spector would be loaned to Blackburn Rovers. Due to many defensive injuries from Manchester, the transfer was postponed for the first time. The crisis persisted and Spector couldn't move before the end of the transfer window.
Before the 2005/06 season, he moved to Charlton Athletic on loan to collect match practice.
The two-footed left defender began his career with the Chicago Sockers youth team. Spector's first youth club youth team was Manchester United . In 2004 the American was called up to the first team of the Red Devils . During the 2005-06 season Spector played on loan at Charlton Athletic .
