Sebastian Klenner (born November 26, 1976 in Weißwasser ) is a former German ice hockey player who played most of the time and most recently with the Lausitzer Füchsen .

Career

He learned to play ice hockey at Dynamo Weißwasser and the successor club Lausitzer Füchse . There he also spent his first two professional years in the DEL as one of the youngest professional players (aged 17) and played with Jan Tábor , among others . In 1997 he left his home Weißwasser and went on the ice for one season for EV Duisburg in what was then the second highest German division, the 1st League North. In the 1998/99 season he played for the Iserlohner EC .

After playing in the 2nd Bundesliga , he made his way to Oberhausen . However, he left the Revierlöwen again after only one season and signed a contract with the league rivals Augsburger Panther . In the summer of 2001 he returned to Oberhausen and then completed 60 league games in which he was able to achieve ten points scorer. After Oberhausen received no license for the 2002/03 DEL season , Klenner joined the Hanover Scorpions . With them he only reached tenth place after the main round and thus missed qualification for the play-offs.

In the summer of 2003 he moved within the league to the Frankfurt Lions , where he was active in a series in the 2004/05 season together with NHL defender Stéphane Robidas . In his first year in Frankfurt he was able to win the German championship with his team . To date, he has played 449 DEL games.

For the 2006/07 season he moved to Dresden , where he held the captaincy . The Eislöwen lost in the playdowns against Weißwasser, so that the team was relegated to the league . Since Klenner's contract with the Eislöwen was only valid for the second division, he left Dresden and decided to switch to ETC Crimmitschau . Sebastian Klenner was the ETC's assistant captain and made it into the play-offs with the ETC. In the series against the later DEL promoted Kassel Huskies there was a narrow defeat in six games. Before the 2008/09 season he signed a contract with his hometown club, the Lausitzer Füchsen , and was captain of the team until the end of his career in 2014.

In July 2008, Sebastian Klenner completed his distance learning with the qualification to become a qualified sports manager (IST).

International

Sebastian Klenner played 23 international matches for the German national team . At the B-WM 2000 in Katowice ( Poland ), he made it to the A group with the German national team.
