Joseph Pierre Stéphane Robidas (born March 3, 1977 in Sherbrooke , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and current official who played 984 games for the Canadiens de Montréal , Dallas Stars , Chicago Blackhawks , Anaheim Ducks and Toronto Maple Leafs has contested. Robidas has been part of the management of the Toronto Maple Leafs since January 2017.

Career

Robidas laid the foundation for a career in ice hockey when he played in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League for three years . He was drawn in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft by the Canadiens de Montréal in the seventh round in 164th place. Finally he was able to gain a foothold in the AHL farm team of the Canadiens de Montréal.

After three seasons he was promoted to the Canadiens team in 2000/01 and was able to score six goals and six assists in 65 games. In the 2001/02 season , the Canadiens used him for lack of alternatives on the left defender position, which Robidas had strong problems as a right-shooter and could only record a single goal this season. Robidas was handed over to the Waiver Draft before the 2002/03 season , in which the Atlanta Thrashers secured the rights to him, which however immediately passed them on to the Dallas Stars . In Dallas he scored three goals and seven assists and also played in the play-offs . After just 14 games the following season , the Stars traded him with the Chicago Blackhawks . During the lockout of the 2004/05 season Robidas moved to the Frankfurt Lions in the DEL . There he reached 15 goals and 32 assists in the regular season and one goal and two assists during the play-offs , until the Lions were eliminated by the Adler Mannheim in the semifinals. Robidas also took part in the European Champions Cup with the Lions . Robidas moved back to the Dallas Stars as a free agent . In December 2006, his contract with the Stars was extended for another three years. The contract brought Robidas a total of $ 4.5 million.

In March 2014, Robidas was transferred to the Anaheim Ducks after nine seasons in the service of the stars . In early July 2014, he finally signed a three-year contract as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs , of which he was only able to fulfill one season due to several broken legs from the previous season. In January 2017 Robidas finally moved to the management of the Maple Leafs before his contract expired the following summer and he withdrew from active sports. In August 2018, he took on the role of Director of Player Development in Toronto .

Robidas has owned the QMJHL franchise Phoenix de Sherbrooke together with Jocelyn Thibault since 2012 .
