Jonathan Thomas (born December 27, 1982 in Pembroke ) is a Welsh rugby union player . He plays as a winger or number eight for the Welsh national team and the Ospreys .

Thomas ran through his country's youth national teams and began professional club rugby at the Swansea RFC . With the restructuring towards regional selections, he went to the Ospreys, where he plays together with numerous other national players. This team managed to win the Magners League in 2007 and the EDF Energy Cup in 2008.

Thomas made his national team debut against Australia in the summer of 2003. He was also nominated for the 2003 World Cup squad. His first attempt in the national jersey was against Italy during the Six Nations in 2005 .

At the Six Nations 2007 he was used in four out of five games. He was also part of the squad for the World Cup during the year . He was used in the games against Canada and Australia . Under Warren Gatland , he was part of the main lineup when winning the Grand Slam at the Six Nations in 2008 .
