Joongbae Jee (born July 10, 1982 in Seoul ) is a South Korean conductor .

Career

He studied composition from 1998 to 2001 at Seoul Art High School and in 2001 began conducting studies at Seoul National University , which he did with Lim Hun-jeong until 2008 . From 2008 to 2012 he completed a conducting course at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim . From 2012/13 to 2014/15 Jee was first Kapellmeister and deputy general music director at the Trier Theater . Jee was accepted into the artist group "Maestro von Morgen" of the German Music Council from the 2014/2015 season. In addition, he has been sponsored by the Conductors' Forum of the German Music Council since 2010 and received a scholarship from the Richard-Wagner-Verband Trier-Luxembourg in 2014. Jee has been the 1st Kapellmeister at the Ulm Theater since the 2015/2016 season.

Awards

In 2004, Jee was named the best young conductor by the Suwon Philharmonic . In 2011 he was a finalist in the 5th German University Competition for Orchestra Conducting and a quarter-finalist in the 52nd International Conducting Competition Besançon . In 2012 he won the 4th German Operetta Prize for young conductors at the Leipzig Opera and the German Music Council .
