Jordan of Warmia († November 28, 1328 ) was 1327-1328 Bishop of Warmia .

Life

The future bishop Jordan is first recorded in 1308 as pastor of Christburg and canon at the Cathedral of the Assumption and St. Andrew . From 1318 he was provost of the cathedral and supported the bishop Eberhard von Neisse in his last years of reign, promoting the settlement of Mehlsack which he had started and was involved in the founding of Guttstadt . After Eberhard's death in 1326, he was elected as his successor by the cathedral chapter.

Because of the required papal confirmation, he went to Pope John XXII. to Avignon . There it was determined by the Riga bishop Friedrich von Pernstein , who was also present , and whose archdiocese included the diocese of Warmia as a suffragan , that the required public announcement of the election results had been neglected and that the election was therefore invalid. After Jordan renounced the rights to which he was entitled from the election, on August 12, 1327 the diocese of Warmia was given to him by Pope John XXII. transfer. The Archbishop of Toledo , John of Aragon , gave him episcopal ordination in Avignon .

In 1328 Jordan is again occupied in his diocese, but died on November 28th. J. His body was buried in the Frauenburg Cathedral . From his short term in office only the founding of a few villages is known.
