Jorge Cuenca Barreno (born November 17, 1999 in Madrid ) is a Spanish football player who has been under contract with FC Barcelona since summer 2017 . He has been playing for the Spanish U21 national team since September 2019 .
Career
society
Cuenca joined the AD Alcorcón youth team in 2015 . He made his debut in the reserve team in the Tercera División on February 12, 2017 in a 1-0 home win against Villanueva del Pardillo. Just a month later, he was used for the first time in the first selection of the second division when he was in the 0-0 draw against FC Elche from the start. In the 2016/17 season he played in five league games in the first team and was also in eight games in the B team.
On July 18, 2017, Jorge Cuenca moved to the B-team of FC Barcelona for a transfer fee of 400,000 euros , which left him in the second highest Spanish league. He played his first game on September 25th (6th matchday) in a 1: 2 home defeat against CD Lugo . In this 2017/18 season he was used in 23 league games and had to accept relegation to third division with Barcelona B.
On October 20, 2018, he equalized in the 1-1 draw against Villareal B in the 96th minute of the game, marking his first goal in the professional field. He made his first-team debut eleven days later in a 1-0 away win in the Copa del Rey 2018/19 . In this 2018/19 season he was used in 28 league games in which he scored once. In the following 2019/20 season, he played 17 league games in which he scored two goals.
National team
From November 2017 to March 2018, Cuenca played seven games for the Spanish U19 national team .
He has been playing for the U21s since September 2019 .
