Jorge García del Valle Méndez (* 1966 in Bad Säckingen ) is a Spanish-German composer .
Life
Jorge García del Valle Méndez was born in Bad Säckingen in 1966, but grew up in Spain. His first music studies took place in Spain in the subjects of bassoon and composition . He has lived in Dresden since 1996 , where he studied composition with Jörg Herchet and electronic music with Wilfried Jentzsch at the Hochschule für Musik . In addition, he took courses with composers such as Luis de Pablo , Mario Lavista , Leo Brower , George Benjamin , José Manuel López López , Beat Furrer and Helmut Lachenmann .
His works are regularly performed in several continents and broadcast by various radio stations. He receives orders from various institutions. Through electronic music he came to the digital analysis and processing of sound, which he used in his theoretical work as well as in his compositions. His article on the digital analysis of bassoon sounds, their tonal possibilities and their use in contemporary music was published in the journal " Rohrblatt ".
Jorge García del Valle Méndez was a scholarship holder of the Saxony Cultural Foundation in 2005 . In 2006 he received second prize at the “ Martirano Composition Award ” of the University of Illinois (USA) for his work 석양 종 [seok yang jong] for violin, cello, piano and electronics, and first prize at the 4th Saxon Composition Competition Music council for the work Wutpunkt for orchestra. This work was in November 2008 at the Leipzig Gewandhaus premiered . In the same year he was commissioned by the Technical University of Dresden to set several documentaries to music.
In 2007 he was commissioned by the "Carl Maria von Weber" Academy of Music in Dresden with the realization of a multi-channel electronic work. This work was premiered in November 2008 for the opening of the new concert hall.
In 2009 he received second prize in the 5th composition competition of the Saxon Music Council for the work After Dark .
In 2010 and 2011 he devoted himself to the preparation of various concerts in the USA and Japan. In 2012 he received a scholarship from the Kulturstiftung Sachsen for the composition of a work for a large chamber ensemble.
