Avelino Jorge Filipe Teixeira (born August 27, 1986 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese football player . He plays the position of central defender .

Career

Jorge Teixeira was signed by FC Zurich in the summer of 2010 to replace the resigned defense chief Hannu Tihinen . Before that, he played two seasons in the third and one season in the Portuguese second division. At the age of 22 he went abroad, where he played one season each in Cyprus - at two different clubs - and at Maccabi Haifa .

He was already on the starting line-up in the first game for FC Zurich on July 20, 2010 and has been part of the regular squad ever since, scoring a goal in the first three games. When Rolf Fringer was appointed coach for the 2012/2013 season, Teixeira lost his regular place.

In January 2013 it was announced that Texeira, on loan until the end of the season, was moving to the Italian Serie A for AC Siena with an option to take over permanently for the 2013/14 season. In the summer, however, Teixeira returned to FC Zurich. For the 2014/15 season he moved to the Belgian club Standard Liège and in 2016 to Charlton Athletic in England .

He has been under contract with VV St. Truiden in the Jupiler Pro League since summer 2017 .
