Jorun Thørring

Jorun Elise Thørring Loennechen (born May 14, 1955 in Tromsø , Norway ) is a Norwegian writer and gynecologist .

Life

At the age of 17, Jorun Thørring moved to Paris for three years , where she worked as an au pair. Back in Norway, she made up her Abitur and studied medicine at Tromsø University from 1980 . She originally wanted to specialize in surgery. Since she had the plan from the beginning to have four children, it became gynecology.

In 2001 she started thinking about writing a detective novel. Her debut was released in 2005 under the title Skyggemannen . The story is about Arla Os, a Norwegian coroner who has lived in Paris for 17 years. The book has been translated into several languages, including as shadow hands into German. For the continuation of the series, and overall third novel, tarantellas which in German for a translation of Sigrid Engeler under the title No sign of violence at German paperback publishing house appeared, she was awarded the 25,000 2007 NOK doped Havmannpreis excellent.

In 2006, Thørring started a second crime series with the Sami police officer and single father Aslak Eira. In 2013 it was announced that Thørring had sold the filming rights to the Aslak Eira series. If the first film is successful, two more films can be made for a total budget of NOK 45 million. The contract was signed before the third book in the series was even published. With Glassdukkene , the adaptation of her second novel and first book in the series, directed by Nils Gaup and with Stig Henrik Hoff in the role of Aslak Eira, hit Norwegian cinemas on April 4, 2014. The German TV premiere of glass puppets was shown on NDR television on November 13, 2017, as well as two repeats at annual intervals.

Thørring lives with her husband and their four children in Melhus and still has a private practice in Trondheim .
