José Doth de Oliveira

José Doth de Oliveira (born March 1, 1938 in Pedra Branca, Ceará ; † November 26, 2017 ibid) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Iguatu .

Life

José Doth de Oliveira was ordained a priest for the diocese of Palmares on December 13, 1964 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Coadjutor Bishop of Palmares on December 23, 1989 . The Bishop of Iguatu , José Mauro Ramalho de Alarcón Santiago , donated him episcopal ordination on May 13 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Acácio Rodrigues Alves , Bishop of Palmares, and Jorge Tobias de Freitas , Bishop of Nazaré .

On December 18, 1991, he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Iguatu. When José Mauro Ramalho de Alarcón Santiago retired on July 26, 2000, he succeeded him as Bishop of Iguatu. He was the initiator of the construction of the Iguatu Cathedral, which was consecrated to St. Joseph, the patron saint of the diocese.

On January 7, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. to resign for health reasons.
