João José da Costa OCarm (born June 24, 1958 in Lagarto ) is a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Aracaju .

Life

João José da Costa joined the Congregation of the Carmelites at, put the profession on January 19, 1986, received on 12 December 1992, the priestly ordination .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Iguatu on January 7, 2009 . The Archbishop of Aracaju , José Palmeira Lessa , donated him episcopal ordination on March 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Mário Rino Sivieri , Bishop of Propriá , and Paulo Cardoso da Silva OCarm, Bishop of Petrolina .

On November 5, 2014 Pope appointed him Francis to Coadjutor Archbishop of Aracaju . With José Palmeira Lessa's age-related resignation on January 18, 2017, he succeeded him as Archbishop of Aracaju.
