José Gutiérrez Maesso

José Gutiérrez Maesso (born June 10, 1920 in Azuaga ; † August 1, 2016 ) was a Spanish film producer , director and screenwriter .

Life

With his family - he is the son of a doctor - he moved to Madrid; at the beginning of the Second Spanish Republic he was on a language trip to England and was brought to Lisbon with financial support from relatives ; back in Spain, he then lived with partisans . In 1940 he began to study medicine, but graduated after changing studies in philosophy and art. After his military service, he joined the newly opened Instituto de Investigaciones y Experiencias Cinematográficas (IIEC). From 1953 ( El alcalde de Zamalea ) to 1990 ( La mansion de los Cthulhu ) Maesso was involved in various functions in around 40 film productions; mostly he held the role of screenwriter. He produced 16 films, and directed five himself. For many years he was a lecturer at the IIEC himself.

The book "José G. Maesso el número 1" was published in 2003 by Jesús García de Dueñas for Ed. Departamentos de publicaciones published.
