José Luis Garcés Rivera (born May 6, 1981 in La Chorrera ) is a Panamanian football player .

Career

From Panama to Europe

At the beginning of 2002 Garcés switched from Sporting San Miguelito to CD Árabe Unido . From there it went on to the 2003/04 season for San Francisco FC . In 2006 he moved abroad for the first time in his career, namely to Nacional Montevideo in Uruguay . There he stayed the whole year and in January 2007 he went to Belenenses SAD in Portugal . There he came in the first Portuguese division for the first time on January 28 in a 1: 2 defeat against Benfica Lisbon used. For Belenenses Garcés was active until the end of the current season and moved to CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria for the 2007/08 season . There he played both in qualifying for the UEFA Cup and in the first round against FC Toulouse in which he was used in the first and second leg. Because he did not show up for the first training session in the second half of the season, Garcés was fined € 2,000. He was also fined € 8,000 in September 2007 for failing to appear for a friendly match.

For the 2008/09 season Garcés moved to the east of the Iberian Peninsula and joined the Académica de Coimbra . For this he came in the first division on ten missions and one goal. His last game for the club was a 2-1 win over FC Paços de Ferreira in December 2008 . Here he was substituted in the 59th against Éder . Garcés then played the following season for al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia . Here, however, only one game against Al-Nasr Riyadh is proven for him.

Back in Panama

After the season in Saudi Arabia, Garcés returned to Panama and rejoined San Francisco FC. Here he was among other things in the 1-0 first leg win in qualifying for the CONCACAF Champions League 2011/12 on June 27, 2011 against the Seattle Sounders , he was substituted in the 71st minute for Johan de Ávila . At the beginning of April 2012, Garcés was arrested by the police after training with his team. In 2011 he injured a pregnant woman so badly that she lost her child. As a result, he was sentenced to three years in prison, was initially able to leave the prison after four months, but had to serve the entire three years after an appeal.

Garcés spent the 2014/15 season at Tauro FC . He then moved to various clubs within Panama, first to CD Plaza Amador , and then to San Francisco FC again in January 2016 for the rest of the season. The next season he played for Sport West FC until February 2017 . He then went to CA Independiente de La Chorrera in his hometown for the rest of the season . At the beginning of the next season, Garcés ran for Azuero FC to move to Costa del Este FC in early 2018 . Then he moved to Santa Gema FC . The club's team was disbanded on May 10, 2019 due to a lack of funds, the club was downgraded to the amateur division.

Garcés is currently banned from all competitions by the sports court until December 5, 2020.

National team

His first appearance for the national team had Garcés on October 9, 2000 in qualifying for the 2002 World Cup in a 0-1 defeat against Canada . Here he was substituted in the 65th minute against Alfredo Anderson . He had his next assignment on June 28, 2003 in the friendly against Cuba ; the game was won 2-0. In qualifying for the 2006 World Cup , Garcés received some missions again, his first being a 1: 2 defeat in El Salvador . His last tournament was the Gold Cup 2009 , in which his team made it to the quarter-finals and lost it 1: 2 against the USA .
