José María Quiñones de León
José María Quiñones de León (born September 28, 1873 in Paris , † November 21, 1957 ibid) was a Spanish diplomat .
Life
José María Quiñones de León was the son of Ana de Francisco Martín y Orrantia and Colonel Cayo Quiñones de León y Santalla, Marqués de San Carlos y de Montevirgen, who accompanied Queen Isabella II into exile in Paris in September 1868. José María Quiñones de León was close to King Alfonso XIII. friends.
From 1920 to 1921 he was the representative of the Spanish government at the League of Nations . He was the rapporteur on Upper Silesia in the Council . In 1923 he brought the Incidente de Corfú to the ambassadors conference . He was a senator and member of parliament for Sahagún and was benevolent of the dictatorship of Miguel Primo de Rivera , in whose honor he held a ceremony in León in 1929 . From 1917 to April 16, 1931 he was ambassador to Paris . During his tenure in 1929, the Colegio de España en París was established . At the beginning of the second Spanish republic , his resignation as ambassador was granted by Niceto Alcalá Zamora and Alejandro Lerroux on April 16, 1931. From July 19, 1936 he was the unofficial representative of Francisco Franco to the French authorities.
