José Roberto de Almeida Pinto (born February 10, 1953 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian diplomat .

Life

José Roberto de Almeida Pinto is the son of Suzana Lins de Almeida Pinto and Geraldo de Almeida Pinto. On April 5, 1976, he successfully completed the Curso Preparatório à Carreira Diplomática (CPCD) Instituto Rio Branco. On April 6, 1976 he was awarded first place in the Prêmio Lafayette de Carvalho e Silva of the Rio Branco Institute . On October 14, 1977 he was awarded the gold medal of the Rio Branco Institute and on October 17, 1977 he was appointed Secretary of the Third Class. On October 18, 1977, he was promoted to assistant in the commercial department and on December 12, 1979, he was promoted to second-class legation secretary. On December 13, 1979 he published the volume of poetry Canção do meu exílio in the Achiamé publishing house in Rio de Janeiro. On February 26, 1981 he became assistant to the United Nations Department and made on July 5, 1983 the master's degree in literature at the University of Brasília . On December 30, 1983 he was Secretary of the First Class in Washington, DC On June 1, 1984 he published the volume of poetry Arquipélago Herzog in Achiamé Verlag in Rio de Janeiro. On March 20, 1987, he was appointed Secretary of the First Class in Asunción and on June 30, 1989, he was promoted to the Legation Council.

From October 27, 1989, he temporarily headed the Brazilian observer office in Windhoek , South West Africa ; after Namibia's independence on March 31, 1990, he was Brazilian chargé d'affaires in Namibia for a few months. From June 28, 1990 he was bureau chief of the general secretary of Itamaraty. From March 25, 1991 to 1992, he held a professorship for international politics at the Instituto Rio Branco . From June 18, 1991 he sat on the examination board of the Instituto Rio Branco .

On June 15, 1992 he became Counselor in Rome . On April 27, 1993 he received the honorary professorship Turma Ulysses Guimarães of the Instituto Rio Branco . On December 6, 1994 he gave a lecture at the Curso de Altos Estudos on the possibility of expanding the UN Security Council to include a permanent seat for a representative of the Brazilian government. From May 2, 1995 he became deputy secretary general of Itamaraty. On November 19, 1995 he was awarded the Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and on December 27, 1995 with the Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic . On December 25, 1995, he was appointed second class counselor. On April 26, 1996 he was honored as a Grand Officer of the Rio Branco Order ( Ordem de Rio Branco ). On September 3, 1997 he was accepted into the Legion of Honor . On November 3, 1997, he was awarded the Grand Officer of the Order Bernardo O'Higgins and on December 16, the Grand Officer of the Order for Merit . On March 1, 1998, he became envoy to Rome and deputy representative to the FAO .

On June 23, 1999, he became envoy in Caracas , where he temporarily served as chargé d'affaires. On July 7, 1999, he headed the Brazilian delegation at the seventh meeting of the working group on a Secretaria Permanente do Tratado de Cooperação Amazônica (transnational business integration of the Amazonian people) in Caracas. On October 26, 1999, he headed the Brazilian delegation to the 15th ordinary meeting of the Council of the Sistema Econômico Latino-americano (SELA Latin American Economic Integration) in Caracas. On December 11, 2001, he headed the Brazilian observer delegation at the summit of the Associação de Estados do Caribe , (Association for the Integration of Caribbean States) on Isla Margarita . On December 19, 2002, he published a work on literary criticism Poesia de Brasília: duas tendências in Thesaurus / Brasília . On June 11, 2003, he was seconded to the Department of Defense as a liaison officer for studies. On December 11, 2003 he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Ordem do Mérito da Defesa . On December 19, 2003, he was appointed First Class Envoy of Honor. On February 5, 2004, he was appointed chairman of a standing liaison commission on military studies. On June 11, 2004 he was involved in the publication of a memorandum on security and defense policy by the Liaison Commission.

On February 28, 2005 he became ambassador in Tegucigalpa ( Honduras ). On October 11, 2004 the second, on June 23, 2005 the third and on November 30, 2005 the fourth volume of the memorandum was published. On December 15, 2006, he published the poetry and music volume A ginga da alma in the Francisco Alves publishing house in Rio de Janeiro. From September 12, 2007 he sat on the examination board of the Instituto Rio Branco . On February 19, 2008 he became Consul General in Rome. On December 9, 2008, he published O conceito de poder nas relações sociais with the Francisco Alves publishing house in Rio de Janeiro. On March 26, 2010, he chaired a conference of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries in Brasília .

Since September 29, 2010 he has been the Brazilian ambassador to Guatemala .
