Josef Auer (sculptor)

Josef Auer (* 1867 in Munich ; † April 22, 1934 ibid) was a German wood sculptor . He mainly created sacred works, some of which he made according to designs by the Munich architect Joseph Elsner .

  • Monastery Church of the Holy Cross and Assumption of Mary in Scheyern : additions to the Gothic main altar (1923–1924)
  • Church of St. Peter and Paul Etting (district of Rain): Pietà (1922)
  • Kempten (Allgäu) , St. Anton parish church: two angels each for the Fidelis and the poor soul altar
  • Landshut , St. Jodok : wood relief (1931)
  • In collaboration or based on a design by Joseph Elsner:
    • Übersee , parish church St. Nikolaus : main altar and side altars as well as stations of the cross (1905)
    • Heldenstein , parish church St. Rupertus: Depiction “Baptism of Duke Theodo by St. Rupertus "in the high altar (1904)
