Josef Callenberg

Josef Callenberg (born September 8, 1854 in Sigmaringen , † November 19, 1960 in Münster ) was a German builder.

Life

Callenberg was born the fourth of nine children. When he was 5 years old, the family moved to Lippstadt . In 1873 he passed the Abitur examination. After four years of study at the Royal Building Academy in Cologne , he passed the first state examination as a government building supervisor in structural engineering and engineering. In 1895 he took over the management of the structural engineering office in Memel . In the city he built the district court building, the house of worship and the leprosy center Memel . The churches in Plicken , Dawillen and Schwarzort were also built according to his plans. From 1909 he worked as a government building officer in Allenstein. During the First World War he was active in the War Aid Commission for the Province of East Prussia. He was responsible for rebuilding the cities and villages destroyed by the Russians. Further stations were Metz , Münster and Karlsruhe , the Rheingau district and the district of Sankt Goarshausen and Eltville am Rhein . He built churches, educational institutions, reception buildings and train stations everywhere. In 1916 he was transferred to the government in Düsseldorf . Retired in 1920 as senior government and building officer, he moved to Münster. He was 106 years old.
