Josef Eidenberger

Josef Eidenberger (born May 30, 1899 in Goisern , Upper Austria ; † July 21, 1991 in Niederwaldkirchen ) was an Austrian painter .

Life

After the First World War , he initially turned to landscape painting. In 1923 he entered the graphic teaching and research institute in Vienna and learned the techniques of copperplate engraving and etching from Alfred Cossmann

Then he dealt with color etching, the technique of which he constantly refined and improved. His motifs give the impression of hand-painted work and were created in his studio or in his print shop.

In addition to many motifs from his closer home, numerous cityscapes from all over the world were created. The international recognition of his work came with the many orders from the United States.

In recognition of his life's work, Federal President Rudolf Kirchschläger awarded Josef Eidenberger the professional title of Professor in 1976. Eidenberger was artistically active well into old age.

His last oil painting, numerous exhibits from the life and work of the artist as well as the technique of color etching and printing can be seen in the “Prof. Eidenberger Museum ”in Niederwaldkirchen can be visited and studied.
