Josef Eisenburg

Josef Eisenburg (born March 19, 1927 - † May 8, 2017 ) was a German physician who was a specialist in gastroenterology and liver diseases .

Life

Josef Eisenburg completed his habilitation in 1967 at the Medical Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and was appointed adjunct professor in 1973. In 1983 he became chief physician of the medical department of the hospital of the Barmherzigen Brüder in Munich .

In total, Eisenburg was a speaker 18 times at the advanced training congresses of the German Medical Association . He has written numerous books, including the standard Atlas of Liver Diseases and Differential Diagnosis of Gastrointestinal Symptoms and Diseases . He was also the scientific director of the journal Der Bayerische Internist .

In 1987 he was awarded the Ernst von Bergmann plaque by the German Medical Association. In 2007 he received the Great Cross of Merit after he had received the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 1988. In addition, Eisenburg was a bearer of the Bavarian Order of Merit .

He was a member of the Catholic student association KBSt.V. Rhaetia Munich .
