Josef Grafeneder (born February 6, 1934 in St. Nikola an der Donau ) is a Catholic priest , long-time pastor of Mitterkirchen im Machland and then of Münzbach , author of lyrical texts, some of which were set to music, homeland researcher and homeland book author .

Live and act

Grafeneder is a graduate of the Episcopal Gymnasium Petrinum , was ordained a priest in Linz in 1958 and worked as a chaplain in Helpfau-Uttendorf (1958 to 1962) and Großraming (1962/1963). From 1963 to 1990 he was pastor of Mitterkirchen and initiated a. a. the expansion of the parish church, the reorganization of the church interior, the purchase of a new organ, the expansion of the cemetery and the morgue as well as the construction of the parsonage and parsonage. During this time he taught continuously at the Mitterkirchen elementary school and from 1972 to 1988 also at the Baumgartenberg secondary school . In 1990 he became pastor of Münzbach, where, in addition to his pastoral work, he was involved in the creation of a park for the senses and the renovation of the buildings of the former Dominican monastery in Münzbach . In this context, he was also deputy chairman of the local tourism association.

Grafeneder was already active in literature in high school and belonged to a literary circle during his training in the seminary. He later took part in folk evenings , poetry readings and radio broadcasts and was a district officer of the Stelzhamer Association for a long time . Together with Hermann Kronsteiner he wrote his most popular work, the Hoamatmess. He published several volumes of poetry (some self-published).

He carried out extensive preparatory work for the publication of a Heimatbuch in Mitterkirchen and was the main author in the publication of a Heimatbuch in Münzbach.
