Josef Hesselbach

Josef Hesselbach (born December 4, 1931 in Unsleben ) is an agricultural economist, especially in agricultural ergonomics, he was a professor for business administration at the universities of Hohenheim and Mainz .

Live and act

After his matriculation examination in Münnerstadt, Hesselbach studied agricultural science at the Technical University of Munich in the Weihenstephan Science Center from 1952 to 1956 with a final diploma examination. 1956 to 1957 he continued his agricultural studies at the Royal Veterinary and Agriculture College in Copenhagen .

From 1957 to 1964 he was Gerhardt Preuschen's research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Agricultural Work and Technology in Bad Kreuznach with a six-month study visit at Purdue University in Indiana , (USA). After receiving his doctorate in 1958 at the Technical University of Munich, he became a research assistant at the Institute for Applied Agricultural Management at the University of Höhenheim. With his habilitation he received the Venia legendi for agricultural management in Hohenheim (1968).

After a visiting professorship at Purdue University in Indiana from 1970 to 1978, he became a professor of agricultural management at the University of Mainz (1979 to 1995). At the same time he was working group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Agricultural Work and Technology in Bad Kreuznach and from 1976 at the Max Planck Institute for Breeding Research in Cologne. His main areas of research were business planning methods, corporate management and plant breeding projects, and in 1995 Josef Hesselbach retired.
