Josef Keller (politician, 1947)

Josef Keller (born December 7, 1947 , resident in Eschenz ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

Life

Keller attended primary school in Massagno and St. Margrethen before moving to high school in Appenzell . He then completed a law degree at the University of Friborg and obtained a licentiate in 1972 and a doctorate in 1976 .

To a certain extent, his political career began in 1976 when he became department secretary of the cantonal justice and police department. Until 1988 he held this office until this year Mayor of Jonah was. From July 1, 2000, he was a member of the government council of the canton of St. Gallen and head of the Department of Economic Affairs. From June 1, 2004 to May 31, 2005 he was President of the Government. At the end of March 2011, Josef Keller resigned from his position as a member of the government and head of the Department of Economic Affairs. His successor in the government of the canton of St.Gallen was Benedikt Würth .

Keller is President of the Board of Directors of Pizolbahnen AG and a member of the Board of Directors of Bus Ostschweiz AG. Keller lives in Rapperswil-Jona . He is married and has three children.
