Josef Klövekorn

Josef Klövekorn (born July 11, 1882 in Uedem , † August 31, 1978 in Bonn ) was a German university teacher for music and the founding rector of the Bonn Pedagogical Academy in 1946.

Klövekorn was the son of a Catholic primary school teacher and attended grammar school in Emmerich am Rhein until he graduated from high school in 1902. Then he studied German, English and French as well as history in Münster, Marburg and Berlin until he received his doctorate in 1907 in Münster / W. on a topic about Karl Immermann at Julius Schwering. In addition, he studied music. He began his teaching career in schools in Cologne and Barmen as well as in Rouen . He then became a senior teacher and teacher in Werden , Sterkrade and Krefeld . From 1927 to 1932 he taught as a lecturer and professor for music for Catholic teacher training students at the Pedagogical Academy in Bonn, was transferred to Beuthen in 1932 as part of the Prussian austerity policy and taught there until 1941 at the University for Teacher Training in Beuthen. He then worked at the teacher training institute and in higher education in Beuthen until he fled in January 1945.

In 1946 he was Joseph Antz : the Prefect in North Rhine commissioned to rebuild the Pedagogical Academy in Bonn (later University of Education), where he was three years working as a professor of music and as a founding principal. From 1949 to 1962 he still had a teaching position.

He played a historical role when, in 1948, as host, he decided to let the Academy building for the Parliamentary Council and later the Bundestag as the Bundeshaus (Bonn) . For this he was promised a new building.
