Josef "Sepp" Klaus (born February 24, 1958 in Augsburg ) is a former German ice hockey player . He was a defender in the ice hockey Bundesliga and in the German national ice hockey team .

career

Klaus started his professional career at Augsburger EV in 1976 and switched to Düsseldorfer EG in 1979 . He ran 111 times for the team from Düsseldorf and was able to achieve 48 scorer points. After two years in Düsseldorf he moved to Augsburg EV in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga , only to leave this club after only one year in the direction of Rosenheim for SB Rosenheim . He stayed in Rosenheim until the 1984/85 season and was German ice hockey champion in 1985 with the team . After a year at the ECD Iserlohn he signed a contract with the Mannheim ERC and became German ice hockey runner-up there in 1987 . He himself contributed 16 scorer points to the season's success.

Before the 1988/89 season he moved to EHC Freiburg and had his statistically best Bundesliga season in the 1990/91 season , in which he scored 36 points. After that year he left Freiburg and joined local rivals Schwenninger ERC . After three years in the Black Forest , he ended his career in 1994.

Klaus ran a total of five times for the German national ice hockey team.
