Josef "Seppel" Niedermeier (born February 6, 1934 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

At the age of 20, Niedermeier was a member of the FC Bayern Munich squad, for which he was first used in the 1954/55 season in the Oberliga Süd , the top German division at the time. In his premier season in the senior division, however, he only played one point game; on April 17, 1955 (28th matchday) he lost with Bayern with 1: 6 at 1. FC Nürnberg . In the 2nd Oberliga Süd he came - due to relegation - in the 1955/56 season to no point game use. In his last season for Bayern , after their return to the Oberliga Süd 1956/57 , he played 18 point games and scored five goals, his first being on September 23, 1956 (5th matchday) in a 5-2 victory in the stadium on Grünwalder Strasse against FSV Frankfurt with the goal to make it 2-0 in the 25th minute.

For the 1957/58 season he moved to the Oberliga Südwest , in which he made his debut for 1. FSV Mainz 05 on August 11, 1957 (1st matchday), in the goalless draw in the away game against TuS Neuendorf .

In the following 24 point games he scored five goals, his first, scored on September 22, 1957 (7th matchday) in the away game against SV Phönix Ludwigshafen in the 78th minute, meant victory. In the following season he was used in only nine league games, where he played his last league game on February 1, 1959 (20th matchday) in the 1: 2 defeat at home against 1. FC Saarbrücken . The 1. FSV Mainz 05 rose at the end of the season as penultimate in the 2. Oberliga Südwest , from which he returned to the Oberliga after only one season.

He then moved to what was then BC Augsburg (today: FC Augsburg ), where he still played with the young Helmut Haller .

Later he served as player-coach / trainer involved in Rosenheim.
