Josef Palham

Josef Palham (born December 14, 1905 in Eisenstadt ; † November 21, 1988 there ) was an Austrian high school professor and politician ( NSDAP ). Palham was married and in 1938 governor in Burgenland.

Palham was born as the son of the farmer Josef Palham from Eisenstadt. He attended the elementary and 1st class of the citizen school in Eisenstadt and then switched to the secondary school in Sopron and Wiener Neustadt . Palham studied two semesters at the Technical University in Vienna and then studied at the philosophical faculty of the University of Vienna . In 1934 he worked as a high school professor for mathematics and physics. Between 1933 and 1936, Palham was held in political custody several times, both being taken into police custody and interned in the Wöllersdorf detention center . He rose in the NS hierarchy to SA brigad leader and was provincial governor of Burgenland from March 13, 1938 to October 1, 1938. After the dissolution of Burgenland, Palham took over the office of regional council in Lower Danube, which he held between October 1, 1938 and April 1, 1940. Palham did his military service between 1940 and 1945. He was taken prisoner of war and remained in custody until 1948 due to his Nazi past.
