Josef Schicho

Josef Schicho (born August 12, 1938 in the Czech Republic ) is an Austrian journalist and author .

Live and act

Schicho grew up in Deutsch-Beneschau and studied theology , sociology and psychology at the University of Vienna . He began his journalistic work at the Catholic news agency Kathpress and came to the Linzer Kirchenzeitung in 1966 , where he took over the editorial management from 1968 to 1979. From 1981 to 1984 he was the domestic policy editor for the Upper Austrian News . In 1985 he again took over the chief editor of the Linzer Kirchenzeitung until his retirement in 1995.

In addition to his journalistic activities, Schicho was involved in Catholic adult education and information on the Catholic faith and set up his own department for rural pastoral care. For some time he was active as a pastoral assistant in two Upper Austrian parishes. From 1998 to 1999 he was diocesan commissioner for private radio . He worked as a journalist and radio maker for the Free Radio Freistadt until old age . He is married to Martha and has four children.
