Josef Wagner (politician, 1892)

Josef Wagner (born December 15, 1892 in Frauenthal ; † January 2, 1979 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school, Wagner completed an apprenticeship as a mirror glass maker and then worked in this profession. From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier , from which he returned home as a 40% disabled person. He then worked as a master in mirror glass production in Marktredwitz and Windischeschenbach . Due to the mechanization of the production branch, he switched to the commercial area and acted as managing director of the Ceramic Association in Weiden from 1926 to 1933 .

After the National Socialists came to power, Wagner was released for political reasons, then arrested and briefly interned in Dachau concentration camp . He worked as a sales organizer in Bamberg from 1934 , was relegated there by the Gestapo and then worked as a businessman in Regensburg . Here he was repeatedly taken into “ protective custody ”. In 1938/39 he worked as a branch manager and from 1940 to 1952 as an accountant in Deggendorf . He then managed his own fruit and garden plot in Deggenau .

Political party

Wagner joined the SPD in 1918 and was chairman of the SPD local branch in Windischeschenbach from 1919 to 1926. In 1947 he was elected chairman of the Deggendorf SPD district association.

MP

Wagner was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1957. He entered parliament through the Bavarian State List .
