Joseph-Marie Sardou SCJ (born October 25, 1925 in Marseille , † September 19, 2009 in Rome ) was Archbishop of Monaco .

Life

Joseph-Marie Sardou joined the congregation of the Congrégation des Pères de Timon-David and was ordained a priest on March 12, 1949 by Bishop Jean Delay .

Pope John Paul II appointed him 11th Bishop and 2nd Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Monaco in the Principality of Monaco in 1985 . He was ordained bishop on September 30, 1985, Curia Cardinal Bernardin Gantin ; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Strasbourg, Charles Amarin Brand , and Louis Dufaux , Auxiliary Bishop in Marseille.

In 2000, his age-related resignation was granted by John Paul II. He took his retirement home in the Roman parish of San Cirillo . Joseph-Marie Sardou died on September 19, 2009 in Rome.

He was a member of the Orders of Chivalry .
