Joseph Alfons Tscherrig
Joseph Alfons Tscherrig CSsR (also José Alfonso Tscherrig ; born October 25, 1903 in Brig , Switzerland ; † November 22, 1982 ) was a Roman Catholic religious and apostolic vicar of Reyes in Bolivia .
Life
Joseph Alfons Tscherrig joined the Congregation of the Redemptorists in and put on 8 September 1923, the profession from. On September 28, 1928, he received the sacrament of ordination .
Pope Pius XII appointed him on December 11, 1956 Titular Bishop of Nephelis and Vicar Apostolic of Reyes . He was ordained episcopate on May 30 of the following year by the Bishop of Sion , François-Nestor Adam CRB . Co - consecrators were the Abbot Bishop of Saint-Maurice , Louis-Séverin Haller CanReg , and the Bishop of Luxembourg , Léon Lommel .
Tscherrig took part in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.
On December 11, 1970, Pope Paul VI took his early resignation.
