Joseph Aloysius Durick (born October 13, 1914 in Dayton , Tennessee , USA ; † June 26, 1994 in Bessemer , Alabama ) was Bishop of Nashville .

Life

Joseph Aloysius Durick received on 23 May 1940, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 30, 1954, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Cerbali and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Mobile-Birmingham . The Bishop of Mobile-Birmingham, Thomas Joseph Toolen , donated him episcopal ordination on March 24, 1955 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Saint Augustine , Joseph Patrick Hurley , and the Bishop of Natchez , Richard Oliver Gerow . On December 2, 1963, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to coadjutor bishop of Nashville. The inauguration took place on March 3, 1964. On September 4, 1969, Joseph Aloysius Durick succeeded the resigned William Lawrence Adrian Bishop of Nashville.

On April 2, 1975, Joseph Aloysius Durick resigned as Bishop of Nashville.

Joseph Aloysius Durick attended the first, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
