William Lawrence Adrian (born April 16, 1883 in Sigourney , Iowa , USA ; † February 13, 1972 in Nashville , Tennessee ) was Bishop of Nashville .

Life

William Lawrence Adrian attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport . Adrian studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the Pontifical North America College in Rome . He received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Davenport on May 29, 1926 .

On February 6, 1936, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the Bishop of Nashville. The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Amleto Giovanni Cicognani , ordained him episcopal on April 16 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Davenport, Henry Patrick Rohlman , and the Bishop of Trenton , Moses Elias Kiley .

On September 4, 1969, William Lawrence Adrian resigned as Bishop of Nashville and Pope Paul VI. appointed him titular bishop of Elo . Adrian renounced the titular bishopric Elo on January 13, 1971.
