Joseph Ambühl
Joseph Ambühl (also Josephus ) (born January 3, 1873 in Lucerne ; † October 17, 1936 in Solothurn ) was a Roman Catholic bishop of Basel .
Life
The son of a treasurer of the Lake Lucerne Shipping Company attended high school in Lucerne, studied theology in Lucerne and Freiburg im Breisgau and was ordained a priest in 1898 . He then worked in various pastors in Lucerne and Kriens .
Joseph Ambühl was born in 1925 by Pope Pius XI. appointed Bishop of Basel and Lugano. He was ordained bishop on September 27, 1925 by the then Apostolic Nuncio of Switzerland and later Cardinal , Archbishop Luigi Maglione .
In the same year Ambühl was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Freiburg.
