Joseph Blum

Joseph Blum (born December 31, 1831 in Steinbach ; † March 21, 1888 ibid) was a merchant, mayor of Steinbach and member of the Nassau state parliament .

Joseph Blum was mayor of Steinbach from 1867 to 1878. His predecessor in this office was Philipp Sehr (1827 to 1867), his successor Jakob Voss (1880 to around 1886).

In the eleventh and final electoral term, from 1865 to 1866, Joseph Blum was a member of the Nassau state parliament for the Hadamar constituency . He was one of the 20 members of the Nassau Progressive Party among the 24 members of the Second Chamber of the Estates of the Duchy of Nassau .

family

Joseph Blum was the son of Johannes Blum and his wife Margarethe, née Scherer. Joseph Blum married Margarethe Heep from Oberzeuzheim on November 23, 1857 in Steinbach (* January 21, 1835, † after 1888).

Joseph Blum's grandfather, Simon Blum, was a miner and farmer in Steinbach. The father Johannes Blum was a miner and owner of the manganese ore mine "Sonnenblume" in the district of Niedertiefenbach . Joseph Blum was a "shift supervisor" and mine owner.

Parent company

The parent house of the Blum family was the house at number 52 on Langstrasse in Steinbach, diagonally across from today's fire station .
