Joseph Bova
Joseph Bova (born May 25, 1924 in Cleveland , Ohio , † March 12, 2006 in Englewood , New Jersey ) was an American actor .
Bova began his career as a child actor in Cleveland and later went to Northwestern University . Upon graduation, he became local programming director for NBC in Cleveland and was Uncle Joe Bova on a children's show. He made his breakthrough on Broadway in 1959 as Prince Dauntless the Drab in Once Upon a Mattress . He also played The Comedy of Errors , King Richard III , Love's Labor's Lost , Troilus and Cressida and Twelfth Night . He received a Tony nomination in 1970 .
In 1974 he played one of the leading roles in The Man of Metal , the "Man of Metal", directed by Jack Gold .
From 1980 to 1989 he played Bert Barry in the musical 42nd Street .
Bova was married to actress Lee Lawson . He died of emphysema .
