Joseph Dippel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joseph Dippel (born January 15, 1840 in Wittibreut , † June 11, 1915 ) was a German clergyman and scholar.

Life

Joseph Dippel belonged to the Diocese of Passau . He was trained at the Episcopal Clerical Seminar for Saint Stephen, was ordained a priest on June 27, 1863 and received his doctorate in 1865 with the thesis attempt at a systematic presentation of the philosophy of Carolus Bovillus along with a brief outline of his life. A contribution to the history of the philosophy of the 16th century in Würzburg . Further publications followed, including the Handbuch der Aesthetik und der Geschichte der bildenden Künste (1871), Kulturgeschichte - Religionsphilosophie (1877) and Der Russisch Nihilismus (1882). Dippel worked for several magazines. While Karl Heinz Grenner declared that Dippel was unable to pursue an academic career due to adverse circumstances, he is listed as a philosophy professor in Freising by Giuseppe Invernizzi . It is unclear whether he is identical to Joseph Dippel, who was pastor in Neunkirchen from 1876 to 1888 , where he wrote a chronicle of the parish before moving to Steinach near Straubing . According to Eisler's Philosophen-Lexikon, he was a pastor in Dommelstadl .
