Joseph Jackel

Joseph Jäckel (born October 16, 1778 in Friedland in Bohemia , † February 19, 1849 in Vienna ) was a municipal official in Vienna and an author .

Life

Before joining the army of the Bohemian Landwehr, Jäckel attended schools in Prague and Linz . During the wars of liberation he was first lieutenant and later he was promoted to captain in the 37th Infantry Regiment . After leaving the army in 1819, he took a position in Vienna as a senior civil servant at the Zimentirungsamt.

Jäckel was a member of the Upper Lusatian Society of Sciences in Görlitz , a member of the Société de Géographie , knight of the Order of the Redeemer and an honorary citizen of the cities of Tulln and Baden (Lower Austria) .

Furthermore, he was a member of the Imperial and Royal Agricultural Society in Vienna, corresponding member of the Imperial and Royal Society of Agriculture, Member of the Arts and Commerce in Gorizia, the Imperial and Royal Permanent Society of Agriculture and the Arts in Klagenfurt and the Imperial and Royal Society of Agriculture and the Arts in Carniola , the Moravian Society for the Promotion of Agriculture, Natural and Regional Studies and bearer of the Viennese golden St. Salvator and the Hamburg golden civil badge of honor.
