Meinrad Siegl
Meinrad Siegl SOCist (born October 16, 1842 in Kamenec , † November 16, 1911 in Osek ) was a Bohemian Cistercian and from 1886 to 1911 abbot of the Ossegg monastery .
Life
Meinrad Siegl entered the Ossegg monastery after attending the Cistercian high school in Komotau . He studied theology in Innsbruck (1865-1867) and was ordained a priest in 1867. In the following years he was entrusted with various tasks: in 1868 custodian of the monastery library, in 1869 novice master and librarian, in 1882 subprior and in 1886 elected abbot.
He particularly took care of the school system in the community of Ossegg and had several construction work carried out in the monastery and parishes, including a. a new church was built in Libkovice . In the monastery he introduced Gregorian chant. In the executive committee of the Austro-Hungarian Cistercian Congregation he held the position of assistant.
