Joseph Levin Saalschütz
Joseph Levin Saalschütz (born March 15, 1801 in Königsberg ; died August 23, 1863 there ) was a German archaeologist , historian , cultural scientist and author .
He was initially a religion teacher and preacher in Vienna and rabbi in Königsberg. In 1824 he was the first Jew to graduate from the Albertina to Dr. phil. PhD. In 1847 he completed his habilitation as a private lecturer in Hebrew archeology at the University of Königsberg.
In the course of his life he developed a broad cultural and general historical writing activity with a special focus on the Biblical-Hebrew period.
