Joseph Vu Van Thien ( Vietnamese : Giuse Vũ Văn Thiên ; born October 26, 1960 in Kẻ Sặt ) is a Vietnamese clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Hanoi .

Life

Joseph Vu Van Thien was ordained a priest on January 24, 1988 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Hải Phong on November 26, 2002 . He was ordained bishop by the Archbishop of Hanoi, Paul Joseph Cardinal Phạm Đình Tụng , on January 2nd of the next year; Co- consecrators were Paul Nguyên Van Hòa , Bishop of Nha Trang , and François Xavier Nguyên Van Sang , Bishop of Thái Bình .

On November 17, 2018, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Hanoi. The inauguration took place on December 18 of the same year.
