The diocese Hải Phòng ( lat. : Dioecesis Haiphongensis , Vietnamese : Giáo Phan Hải Phòng ) is in Vietnam Located Roman Catholic diocese based in Hải Phòng .

history

Pope Innocent XI. founded the Apostolic Vicariate Osttonking on July 24, 1678 from the division of the Apostolic Vicariate Tonking into Osttonking and Westtonking .

On September 5, 1848 it lost parts of its territory to the Vicariate Apostolic Central Tonking , on June 1, 1883 to the Vicariate Apostolic North Tonking and on April 15, 1901 to the Vicariate Apostolic Coast Tonking .

On November 3, 1924, it took the name of the Apostolic Vicariate Hải Phòng. With the Apostolic Constitution Venerabilium Nostrorum , it was elevated to a diocese on November 24, 1960.
