The diocese of Qui Nhon ( lat. : Dioecesis Quinhonensis , Vietnamese : Giáo Phan Qui Nhon ) is in Vietnam Located Roman Catholic diocese based in Quy Nhon .
history
Pope Innocent X. founded the Apostolic Vicariate of Cochin on September 9, 1659 from cession of territory by the Diocese of Macau . In 1662, territories were given up to establish the Apostolic Vicariate of Siam , and in 1680 it gave up part of its territory to establish the Apostolic Vicariate of Fujian .
On March 2, 1844, the Apostolic Vicariate Cochin was divided into the Apostolic Vicariates West Cochin and East Cochin.
To the Apostolic Vicariate Nordcochin the Apostolic Vicariate Ostcochin on August 27, 1850 lost a piece of territory. On December 3, 1924, it was named Vicariate Apostolic Quinhon.
On January 18, 1932, it lost parts of its territory to the Vicariate Apostolic Kontum and on July 5, 1957 to the Vicariate Apostolic Nha Trang .
With the Apostolic Constitution Venerabilium Nostrorum , it was elevated to a diocese on November 24, 1960. On January 18, 1963, it lost part of its territory to the Diocese of Da Nang .
