The diocese Đà Lạt was on November 24, 1960 by Pope John XXIII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Quod venerabiles from cessions of territory by the Archdiocese of Saigon and the Apostolic Vicariate Kontum and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Saigon as a suffragan . The diocese Đà Lạt gave on June 22, 1967 parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Ban Mê Thuột .
