Joseph Wormstall

Joseph Wormstall (born March 13, 1829 in Arnsberg ; † November 12, 1907 in Münster ) was a German teacher, classical philologist , poet and writer.

Life

Born in Arnsberg in 1829, Wormstall attended the Laurentianum grammar school there from 1840 to 1848 . He then studied Catholic theology at the academy in Münster . During his studies he made the acquaintance of Friedrich Wilhelm Grimme , who was there a. a. also studied theology. After 1847, both belonged to the Sauerlandia Catholic student union . In 1853 Wormstall passed his teacher’s exam. After the probationary year at the grammar school in Arnsberg and a further semester as an assistant teacher, he was first two years assistant teacher in Recklinghausen , then two years full teacher in Dorsten . After being transferred to the Paulinum grammar school in Münster in 1858 , he held a full teaching position there until 1862. In Jena , Wormstall received his doctorate in 1864. phil.
