Joshua Andrew "Josh" Mayo (born July 15, 1987 in Munster, Indiana , United States ) is an American basketball player . He is currently under contract with Pallacanestro Varese in Italy .

Career

Mayo received his basketball training from 2005 to 2009 at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) . In his senior season with the Illinois-Chicago Flames in the US college league NCAA , Mayo averaged 17.0 points and 3.4 assists per game.

At 2009 NBA draft Mayo was not considered. Mayo signed his first professional contract with the French second division side Stade Clermontois Basket Auvergne . In the following season (2011/12) Mayo moved to Latvia to BK Liepājas Lauvas . Further stations were Ukraine, Italy, Turkey and Spain.

For the 2015/16 season Mayo moved to Scafati Basket in the second Italian division . For Scafati he averaged 15.7 points and 5.2 assists per game this season.

Mayo moved to the German basketball league for the Telekom Baskets Bonn for the 2016/17 season . Mayo averaged 15.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game for Bonn this Bundesliga season. In the FIBA Europe Cup 2016/17 he contributed to reaching the semi-finals with 12.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. At the end of the season, Telekom Baskets extended the contract with Mayo up to and including the 2018/19 season. During the 2019 summer break, Mayo and Telekom Baskets Bonn parted ways and the Guard returned to Italy, where he joined Pallacanestro Varese .
